A very warm welcome to this lovely church.
Here you will find an oasis of peace and beauty amid the rush and tear of modern life. Ebony Church is much loved by the people who worship here and it has preserved the use of the Book of Common Prayer with its wonderful language and timelessness.
You will be very welcome at the Holy Communion Services which take place every fortnight.
Rev. Stella Halmshaw
Stella & Malcom Halmshaw
We long had a dream that we might like to retire somewhere near Romney Marsh, an area we have always loved and visited on holiday. So when a 'House for Duty' job came up at Wittersham and Ebony it seemed an unexpected answer to this dream. We had been living and working in Radlett and Shenley, parishes near St. Albans in Hertfordshire. Stella had been made a Deaconess in 1984, then a Deacon and a Priest much later. Malcolm was licensed as a Reader.
We both love the peace of the countryside here and its nearness to the sea. Above all we love the two churches and the Christian Community in each. As you walk into Ebony Church, you will know that it is loved. It has guarded faithfully the Prayer Book tradition but also reaches out to people who may not know it with services like the Christingle Celebration after Christmas.
It is a great privilege for us to seek to serve you all in this lovely place.
